From seafood to typical food and pizza
This restaurant is placed in the Upper town of Bergamo, in an exclusive location, on “Corsarola” street, the main street that crosses the historic suburb of Bergamo city.
Its recently renovated dining environment makes the guests feel at home, with its beautiful external garden and the tables placed exactly on the front side of the restaurant, where you can have lunch during sunny days, but also dinner during the summer.
This restaurant was born many years ago, at the beginning of 1900. It has been managed by Valerio, Massimo e Luca since 1998. The former take care of the dining room, while the latter is a cook. The restaurant name, “Da Franco”, is the same as its first owner’s one, Mr. Franco.
This is the perfect place to enjoy the taste of the delicious food of Lombardia, as you can choose what you like most among the typical dishes of the local culinary tradition, the seafood dishes or pizza.
Our wine list and liqueurs selection are extremely varied and offer the guests a wide spectrum of different choices.
The cooking of “Da Franco” restaurant in the Upper town of Bergamo
The menu is composed by both traditional foods of Lombardia and of Bergamo, and seafood dishes. In addition to the dishes that are available all year long, there are the seasonal ones, which are prepared with ingredients bought daily to ensure freshness.
There is also a specific menu with the proposals of the month. Among the dishes that you can always find on the menu there are: the “Casoncelli” (ravioli typical of Bergamo filled with meat), the schisöl with taleggio and mushrooms, and the bresaola from Orobie alps with goat milk cheese flavored with herbs, or the Ossobuco (slow-cooked veal shank) seasoned with gremolata (parley, garlic, lemon) with polenta. Polenta taragna too, prepared with local cheese, is always available.
In addition to the classic pizza prepared following the traditional recipe, we can also make it according to the “Gusto&Benessere Art Joins Nutrition” policy guideline.
The dough is in fact prepared by looking for the perfect balance between the different ingredients, such as the soft wheat flour, Tritordeum flour, Teff flakes, flax seed, Quinoa and amaranth in grains, which are mixed all together to make a more delicious and crunchier pizza, with much fibers and “good” fatty acids. The tomato sauce is enriched with sea salt, sunflower-seed oil and vegetable fibers. The ingredients we use to obtain the traditional taste of the good Italian pizza are full of fibers and lack fats; the result is a tasty product with half of the calories, which are always specified on the menu near the pizza you will choose.
